For much of the first half of this week, I was preoccupied with a variety of things (work, movies, podcasting, etc). Yesterday, I ended up bedridden, likely having come down with the same bug that benched our babysitter a couple nights ago. Given all of this, I feel like I've barely seen Miles at all … Continue reading Year 2, Day 61

Year 2, Day 57
Miles's vocabulary, although filled with plenty of babbling, still seems to get stronger every day. Tonight, as I was getting ready to head out to trivia, I heard Miles and Lisa in the kitchen as they were getting ready for dinner. Lisa, in German, was getting Miles hyped, telling him that he was going to … Continue reading Year 2, Day 57
Day 356
Like most babies and household pets, Miles developed a quick aversion to the sound of both hairdryers and vacuums. Some mornings, Miles might find himself crawling across the floor towards the hallway bathroom where Jaclyn was getting ready for the day. The push of a button on her hairdryer, and Miles would do a fast … Continue reading Day 356
Day 342
Here's a new (maybe racially insensitive? Who knows anymore?) game Miles and I have started playing.
Day 290
Some days I pick Miles up from daycare and he promptly falls asleep in the backseat. Other days, he starts fussing and whining as soon as he's buckled in. Most days, though, he just sits there and babbles.
Day 278: Baby’s First Funeral
The initial reason we came to Rochester this week was for a wedding, but fate can lead us in unexpected directions. Jaclyn's grandmother passed away on Thanksgiving, which suddenly meant that this trip was going to involve another, more somber family event. Miles is a relatively happy kid and he obviously had zero context for … Continue reading Day 278: Baby’s First Funeral
Day 256
A couple days ago, I got video proof of Miles's adoration of his father. Looks like he doesn't want to play favorites after all!
Day 254
As Miles has started babbling more and more, it's become a race to see exactly which sound (of the only two really important ones) he'll make first: "da-da" or "ma-ma." Which parent won? Let's go to the tape!
Day 225
Our new place may not feel like much of a home yet, but that hasn't stopped Miles from having a blast with it. If nothing else, he's a big fan of the acoustics in the house. With sparse objects around and nothing on the walls, Miles has discovered that his voice will bounce around whatever … Continue reading Day 225
