Some days I pick Miles up from daycare and he promptly falls asleep in the backseat. Other days, he starts fussing and whining as soon as he's buckled in. Most days, though, he just sits there and babbles.

Day 282
In light of the holiday and our trip to Rochester, it has been nearly two weeks since Miles last attended daycare. In that time, we've shared highs and lows, laughs and tears, and I think Miles and I in particular really strengthened our bond in that time. It's really something to have someone in your … Continue reading Day 282
Day 263
Today, Miles's daycare hosted a pre-Thanksgiving lunch for the kids and, most importantly, the parents. Never one to turn down a hearty meal, I eagerly left work at lunchtime to obtain food and see my son for a little bit. And Jaclyn came too, which gave us the unprecedented chance to blow Miles's mind at … Continue reading Day 263
Day 261
Yesterday's weather (and a day off for me) meant that I was not only taking Miles to and from daycare but was also shuttling Jaclyn around. While this happens pretty regularly, driving from home to pick Jaclyn up at the end of the workday provided a rare instance of getting her before retrieving Miles from … Continue reading Day 261
Day 253: Baby’s First Daylight Saving Time!
Whether beginning or ending, daylight saving time can always wreak havoc on your sleeping patterns, but I've never ever considered that there might come a day when gaining an hour of sleep would prove so utterly fruitless. Day 249
Earlier this week, one of the caregivers at Miles's daycare said, "I want to show what Miles did today," a sentence that can always lead in a few different directions. Thankfully, Miles hasn't proven too destructive yet, so I hoped for the best. She sat him down on the floor, right on his butt, and … Continue reading Day 249
Day 227
Today, we got the call every parent dreads -- the midday call from daycare. We trust the folks at Miles's daycare. They exist specifically to provide childcare and development. Hell, they're technically more qualified than we are. And that's why that call is such a big deal -- it means something has happened that we … Continue reading Day 227
Day 213
This is what happens when you have a blowout at daycare and end up in one of the spare shirts they've got lying around:

Miles's typical afternoon look after his ride home from daycare:
Day 205
Almost every day I pick Miles up from daycare, one of the other children -- a girl, maybe three years old -- says the same thing the second I walk through the door. "That's the baby's daddy." I never actually see her, I just hear her voice over the cacophony of toddlers, so my typical … Continue reading Day 205
