Miles had high hopes that he could stay home from school this morning and have a movie day instead. As soon as he got out of bed he grabbed a few carefully chosen films off the shelf.

Year 3, Day 71
I was recently listening to Elmer Bernstein's Ghostbusters score and I flipped the cover around to show Miles the backside, which features a large illustration of Slimer, the delightful green blob. Miles pointed at Slimer. "Huh," he said, which he does whenever he recognizes something but can't recall the word for it. "It's a ghost," … Continue reading Year 3, Day 71
Year 3, Day 18
We're keeping a pretty low profile this weekend given the growing concerns over the coronavirus, but no fear -- this is the week Miles discovered Frozen and wants to watch it OVER AND OVER AND OVER. YES. THINGS ARE FINE. I can't say I'm surprised, given the fact that Miles still hasn't let Christmas go … Continue reading Year 3, Day 18
Year 2, Day 259
I was off today for Veterans' Day. Miles, however, went to daycare as usual. Throw in a vacation day for Jaclyn, and you get that oh-so-rare occurrence -- A DAY WITHOUT MILES. Yes, for one tight window of roughly eight hours, Jaclyn and I were able to live our lives as we did in days … Continue reading Year 2, Day 259
Year 2, Day 175

I figured Miles would at least be into all of the music, … Continue reading Year 2, Day 158
Year 2, Day 97
I finally figured out a perfect movie to put on for Miles, one that involves all of his primary interests -- birds, dogs, balls, and balloons. Any guesses?
Day 291
Miles is having a long week. He may have gotten some extra time with his mom and dad on Monday due to the weather, but Tuesday and Wednesday nights he was back to business as usual, spending the evenings with his babysitter. And although Thursday nights generally bring with them a return to family time, … Continue reading Day 291
Day 286
We limit (as in "almost never allow") Miles's television time, but today, with Jaclyn out at the gym and grocery shopping, I introduced Miles to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Whether it was the music, the frenetic graphics, or the delightful cast, Miles was as attentive as I've ever seen him. Bonus: it's also a … Continue reading Day 286
