"I'm dressing in Daddy's shirt!" - Miles, attempting to steal my work shirt and take my place at my job today (SPOILERS: If it were at all plausible I would TOTALLY let him).
Star Wars Celebration has concluded and I'm headed back home today after a weekend that...well, was frankly just too busy. But last night I finally got a decent, lengthy video chat with Miles! Which was naturally used for tomfoolery. Can't wait to see this goofball again soon!
"Hey," I said as I stood from the couch the other day. "Where's my other slipper?" While my left foot had found the appropriate slipper, my right foot, tapping all around the immediate area, could not find its corresponding partner. "Hmm," Miles said. "I think it's in the bathroom." I looked at him, genuinely baffled. … Continue reading Year 4, Day 327
In a Thanksgiving first*, we stayed home this year and hosted my parents and brother at our (yeah, still) new home. No lie -- it was nice to NOT drive for once! Despite his limited experience and minimal years of existence, here and there I try to grant Miles a bit of the autonomy he so emphatically desires (and is so clearly not ready for). The most frequent opportunity for Miles to forge his own destiny comes from his wardrobe selection. Now, there's a limit to what … Continue reading Year 4, Day 232
With Miles still feeling a little under the weather and staying home from daycare today, I texted Jaclyn to check in on him around midday. She responded with this: So yeah. He's feeling better.
I had to leave a bit early for work this morning, but Miles still rushed from his bed to watch me go from his window. We waved and then, as fathers and sons do, we started blowing raspberries at each other. He started it. When Jaclyn entered the room, she asked him what he was … Continue reading Year 4, Day 186
When I picked Miles up from daycare yesterday, he actually leapt out of the door and declared that he was a monkey. Like it was some sort of revelation or something.
