Miles excitedly stepped out of daycare this afternoon to greet Jaclyn at pick-up. "Happy Mother's Day!" he said proudly, holding out the gifts he had acquired and/or created for her. Jaclyn's heart was warmed, and Miles reveled in her joy for just a moment before declaring that he wanted the gifts back.
Miles enjoyed his third (?!) consecutive day of birthday celebrations today with a tiny soiree involving a select few invitees and what is frankly the most amazing cake I've ever seen. It's humbling in the sense that I will never be this good at ANYTHING. The exclusive guest list included Miles's aunt and uncle... ...and … Continue reading Year 4, Day 3: Miles’s Third Birthday – Part 3
More than any previous year, Miles is acutely aware that today is his birthday. It is perhaps for this reason that he was absolutely wired all day, rendering Jaclyn's attempt at working moot. As the day wound down, we decided to attempt soliciting some basic compliance with the promise of a couple birthday presents. It...didn't … Continue reading Year 4, Day 1: Miles’s Third Birthday – Part 1
"Look! A picture of a raccoon and a picture of a possum!" "That's cool, buddy! Can you hold them up so I can see them? And smile?" Thanks to Grammy and Papa for sending along what are already two of Miles's favorite Christmas presents.
This time of year, kids are always trying to sneak into their parents' closet to peek for Christmas presents. But not Miles. No, when he goes into the closet, you best believe he's going to come out looking ridiculous.
Two things Miles loves: packages coming in the mail and Halloween goodies. Lucky duck has relatives who are willing to satisfy both! In the spirit of the Halloween season, Miles went for a truly bone-chilling dinner combo. Seriously, who eats waffles with BROCCOLI?
Perhaps this goes without saying in our current situation, but technology allows for some truly remarkable things. Last week, Miles let Jaclyn know that he wants his own boxing gloves. She then made a passing remark about it online. And today, courtesy of Papa and Yia-yia, Miles's wish was fulfilled. This photo was taken -- … Continue reading Year 3, Day 51
When our friends from Europe visited last November, they brought Miles a farm animal matching game that allows kids to string together a series of animals and props to mirror sequences on a card. While he doesn't quite understand how to match these sequences, he loves playing with the figures, cards, and (weirdly) the instruction … Continue reading Year 3, Day 35
One of the gifts Miles received at his birthday party last week was an outdoor adventure set (and, if you're familiar with our group of friends, you can probably guess who was responsible for that gift). We opened it today and let Miles start checking out the binoculars, compass, and (surprisingly strong, honestly) flashlight. I … Continue reading Year 3, Day 12
I think it's safe to say that Miles enjoys Christmas. With gift exchanges at both Jaclyn's dad's house and my parents' home, he had plenty of time to get accustomed to being showered with gifts. Of course, he had to start his day like his father -- by drinking a cuppa joe (or pretending to, … Continue reading Year 2, Day 304
