Day 195
An upside to Miles's teething -- I've finally been able to introduce him to The Legend of Zelda. In teething toy form. I think he was most fascinated by the difference in appearance between the two sides.
Day 194: The Teething Diaries III
Miles has enjoyed gnawing on everything he can get his hands on, from toys to...well...his actual hands, for a few months now. It's safe to say now that this fairly innocent precursor has now given way to legitimate and persistent teething. When I pick Miles up from daycare, I don't expect too much of a … Continue reading Day 194: The Teething Diaries III
Day 193
Miles's dexterity continues to develop, as he slowly becomes more aware of his fingers and the potential housed within them. Case in point: tonight he started figuring out how to deliberately make a fist, then punch his opposing palm with it. You know, like one'a them tough guys.
Day 192
As chronicled previously in this blog, Miles has started exhibiting signs of separation anxiety whenever certain tell-tale signs appear before him (the babysitter showing up, either me or Jaclyn, or both of us, walking towards the door). In an effort to problem solve this, we've started trying out a new strategy when leaving the house. … Continue reading Day 192
Day 191: Sounds of the Night-time III
The following is Jaclyn's account of an incident that occurred in the middle of the night. I can neither confirm or deny the validity of this account, because I was not actually awake for the incident in question. Sometime around 3:00 AM, Miles started fussing from his Pack 'n' Play. After giving him a moment … Continue reading Day 191: Sounds of the Night-time III
Day 190: Monday in the Park with Miles
Today was Miles's first Labor Day, and he spent it frolicking in a manner truly befitting a young, carefree lad, gallivanting around Frazier Park. He experienced grass for the first time... But the highlight, for him and us, was almost certainly swinging.
Day 189: Poop Update 5!
The increase in Miles's solid food consumption has brought with it a bold new horizon in baby poop! Venture with me, won't you? 11) The Dollop A more cohesive poo than previously encountered, the Dollop is a quaint swirl of semi-solid excrement measuring about an inch in diameter at its base and available in a … Continue reading Day 189: Poop Update 5!
Day 188
This morning while Jaclyn went to the grocery store, Miles and I sat in bed taking part in that time-honored tradition shared by fathers and sons -- listening to funerals for political figures on the radio. NPR was broadcasting the service for John McCain, and I was amazed by how reverently Miles seemed to listen … Continue reading Day 188
Day 187
It seemed like all of the parents arrived at daycare simultaneously to pick up their assorted infants and toddlers today. I walked into Miles's room to several bodies, hustling, bustling, and of course plenty of loud noises, ranging from laughter to crying. And through it all, Miles sat in a chair on the far side … Continue reading Day 187
