Miles and I have assembled a few LEGO sets together, and each time I’ve done my best to impart on him the importance of following the directions (assuming, of course, that his goal is to build the set as it appears on the front of the box). I’m often doing this in opposition to Miles’s nature, as he wants to do things like “skip to the end.” So when Jaclyn texted to let me know he had put together his Christmas sets all by himself, I was…skeptical. But, as she said and Miles himself confirmed after I was home from work, not only did he build the sets by himself (he admitted that he still had a little left on the second one) but he followed the directions “just like you showed me.” I was absolutely bowled over!
