Year 2, Day 282

Just as his vocabulary is soaring, Miles’s penchant for singing is rising at alarming rates as well. His music is starting to veer away from merely mimicking tones using a variety of babbling that at times sounds vaguely like the words he’s trying to emulate but at other times is complete gibberish. Now he’s actually managing to pronounce a good number of lyrics correctly.

This was most evident in his rousing (and repeated multiple times) rendition of the “ABCs” while we were in the car this weekend. And while I was impressed by his improved articulation of the letters of the alphabet, the best moment came near the end of the song when, and I’m totally serious, Miles sang, “W, X, I-don’t-know,” without missing a key or beat.

We’ll get there, kid. We’ll get there.
