Miles hit another big Miles-stone™ this week. Almost as though a switch inside of him flipped , he woke up one morning and was suddenly pointing at EVERYTHING. Pictures, light bulbs (always a favorite), cars, me...he's just a pointing machine. He's even turned it into a game (beyond the "I'll just point at a thing … Continue reading Day 284

Day 235
Jaclyn had a salon appointment tonight, which didn't sound like a particularly fun way for Miles and me to spend our evening. I clearly underestimated Miles's affinity for plush leather chairs.
Day 210: The Teething Diaries V
We have teeth! Or tooth, anyway. Miles has a habit, as outlined previously, of gnawing on...well...pretty much anything he can fit between his jaws. This has included fingers, both his and mine. I've generally allowed this, laughing as he slowly realized that my fingers were unsavory and eventually rejected them. However, I'm rethinking this behavior … Continue reading Day 210: The Teething Diaries V
Day 193
Miles's dexterity continues to develop, as he slowly becomes more aware of his fingers and the potential housed within them. Case in point: tonight he started figuring out how to deliberately make a fist, then punch his opposing palm with it. You know, like one'a them tough guys.
Day 153: Baby’s First Con!
Today, Jaclyn and I took Miles to Raleigh SuperCon. The event served as Jaclyn's first-ever convention last year, and as a frequent attendee of such things, I couldn't wait to also introduce my son to the celebrities, creators, and general people watching that a show like this brings with it. I've often thought about the … Continue reading Day 153: Baby’s First Con!
Day 128
As Miles's dexterity improves, he's finding more and more uses for his fingers (while he suffers from what I can only refer to as "thumb delay"...still working on mastering, or even acknowledging, the opposable digits). One of his recently discovered joys is fiddling with the bag containing his wipes during diaper changes. While he throws … Continue reading Day 128
Day 99
It's been 19 days since we last checked in on Miles's emerging practical implementation of his digits, and things are proceeding nicely! Not only can he get his fingers around his bottle, he does so the second it nears his mouth and pulls the bottle in (forcibly, if I'm being honest), and he can actually … Continue reading Day 99
