While he still refers to us primarily as "mommy" and "daddy," Miles has learned our actual names. And as of tonight, I can confirm that he knows precisely the time to use them. As an increasingly opinionated little man, Miles is quick to let us know what he does and doesn't like. There may be … Continue reading Year 3, Day 112
Three utensils in front of him, and of course my kid opts to eat cottage cheese and couscous with his fingers.
While I can't claim to understand his reasoning in every case, there are certain items around the house that Miles just refuses to interact with. Sure, sometimes the reason might be pretty obvious, but in many cases he just cowers in fear when faced with common household objects. One (okay, technically two) thing Miles has … Continue reading Year 2, Day 234
Miles has discovered that he can peek through the blinds and he doesn't like the looks of those teenagers!
My heart sank as I witnessed Miles discovering how to open the drawers on the entertainment center. Even as he clunked himself in the head, he proceeded onward, totally unfazed. Time to babyproof everything!
I mentioned this a little the other day, but it is absolutely amazing watching Miles's cognitive and tactile development. In what feels like the blink of an eye, he's gone from barely being able to hold things to passing items from one hand to the other, pressing buttons, and pointing at objects and people. He may not be remotely close to walking yet, but Miles's fine motor skills are continuing to develop at a rate that is pretty amazing to witness. Within the past few days, he has started using his hands to pick up food and put it in his mouth. Not only has he gotten pretty good … Continue reading Day 305
I had an early meeting this morning, and Jaclyn and I decided it would be best if we waited until after that to take Miles to daycare. It felt weird leaving first thing in the morning without Miles in tow, and it was a little more difficult getting out the door with his smiling face … Continue reading Day 295
Miles hit another big Miles-stone™ this week. Almost as though a switch inside of him flipped , he woke up one morning and was suddenly pointing at EVERYTHING. Pictures, light bulbs (always a favorite), cars, me...he's just a pointing machine. He's even turned it into a game (beyond the "I'll just point at a thing … Continue reading Day 284
Jaclyn had a salon appointment tonight, which didn't sound like a particularly fun way for Miles and me to spend our evening. I clearly underestimated Miles's affinity for plush leather chairs.
