We met up with Jaclyn's aunt tonight, and perhaps no one was more excited about our after-dinner ice cream trip than Miles.

Year 2, Day 307
On the heels of what was a pretty big development back in November following our trip home for Thanksgiving, Miles has reached the point where he both recognizes and has bestowed names on some of the extended members of his family. He knows his aunts Katy and Claire by name now, and knows to call … Continue reading Year 2, Day 307
Year 2, Day 304
I think it's safe to say that Miles enjoys Christmas. With gift exchanges at both Jaclyn's dad's house and my parents' home, he had plenty of time to get accustomed to being showered with gifts. Of course, he had to start his day like his father -- by drinking a cuppa joe (or pretending to, … Continue reading Year 2, Day 304
Year 2, Day 290
I mentioned Miles warming up to his Uncle Ben on a recent trip back to Myrtle Beach. As a follow up, Miles's babysitter shared this video with us this week.
Year 2, Day 279
Miles is typically cautious around unfamiliar people, but he's especially nervous around my brother, his Uncle Ben. Ben has cerebral palsy and has been confined to a wheelchair for his whole life, and it's clear every time Miles sees him that he's never quite sure what to make of the situation. On Thursday, Miles wouldn't … Continue reading Year 2, Day 279
Year 2, Day 276
Miles started his second Thanksgiving with a relaxing morning out on the porch with granddad. He ended his day enjoying a post-dinner cupcake with Aunt Katy. In between, of course, he ate plenty of food. Does this not look like the face of a fully-sated child?
Year 2, Day 246
The scene as I left for trivia tonight. Sorry to be missing out on family dinner!
Year 2, Day 153
It's taken time for Miles to both 1) understand that a cat isn't a dog and 2) become comfortable around felines, but a weekend at his aunt and uncle's house has given him more time to familiarize himself with their cat, T-Poo. At this point, they seem to have formed an uneasy truce.
Year 2, Day 151
Tonight, after a trip to Raleigh that kept us all up a little later than usual, Miles decided to serenade us with a rendition of "Are You Sleeping?" NO, MILES. NO WE ARE NOT SLEEPING.
Year 2, Day 125
Today was the long-awaited, much ballyhooed wedding of Miles's Aunt Andrea and her now-husband Scott, and while this event was just as lavish and memorable as one might expect, the biggest takeaway for me was that it yielded the single greatest video of Miles ever. Behold. Miles also learned how to use a motion-sensing faucet … Continue reading Year 2, Day 125
