Year 3, Day 166

For some reason (I have no idea why, and I've honestly been too afraid to ask), Miles has been referring to his juice as "Daddy Juice." "I want Daddy Juice!" he'll declare. The type of juice is unimportant -- just whatever type we currently have in the fridge.Of course, Miles had been using the term … Continue reading Year 3, Day 166 →

Year 3, Day 165

I was hoping we could make this afternoon a "Family Movie Day," and when Miles said he wanted to watch Star Wars, I knew we were both on the same page. Now we just need to work on "talking during the movie"...

Year 3, Day 164

Miles has a well-documented disdain for sunlight, but at least he's finding increasingly poetic ways to describe it. The sun was bright in the sky this morning, which hasn't always been the case lately, with overcast days and intermittent storms. Today, however, Miles's nemesis was back with a vengeance. As the light shone through the windshield … Continue reading Year 3, Day 164 →

Year 3, Day 163

Year 3, Day 162

Miles has started throwing around the phrase "One more time!" pretty liberally. When we're playing and I do something funny? "One more time!" When we've just finished running around from playing Naked Baby after bath time? "One more time!" When I give Miles a potato chip? "One more, daddy!" Of course, it's never "one more … Continue reading Year 3, Day 162 →

Year 3, Day 161

Like most kids, Miles loves singing, whether that entails bursting into spontaneous song or following along to something he's listening to. One of his favorite things to sing along to is the Sony Pictures Television logo at the end of Jeopardy! each night.

Year 3, Day 160

Miles had high hopes that he could stay home from school this morning and have a movie day instead. As soon as he got out of bed he grabbed a few carefully chosen films off the shelf.

Year 3, Day 159

Consuming meals can be a lengthy process for Miles, especially if he's watching TV. Sometimes he needs a little nudge to remember there's food in front of him. During lunch today, Miles was noticeably neglecting the single remaining chicken nugget on his plate. As he gazed at the television, I leaned in and eyed the food."Hey … Continue reading Year 3, Day 159 →

Year 3, Day 157

In a move that will come as no surprise to regular readers, Miles woke up insisting that we obtain ice cream today. Hey, I can think of worse Friday night rituals!
