Year 3, Day 216

When asking for stories at the end of the day, Miles has a tendency of making pretty varied requests. Some are simple enough -- "I want a story about a pumpkin," for instance. Most stories involve Mickey Mouse. While my ability to spontaneously come up with satisfying narratives on a whim could likely leave more … Continue reading Year 3, Day 216 →

Year 3, Day 215

We all got out for a little bit today and hit up a couple parks for walking and...whatever this is. Some playground equipment is clearly designed by psychos. Perhaps the most exciting part of the excursion, however, was the time we got to spend with Miles's babysitter and the baby she is now sitting for … Continue reading Year 3, Day 215 →

Year 3, Day 214

We took a trip to York, SC today to visit Bush-n-Vine farm on the first day their pumpkin patch was open for the season. Miles was over-the-moon excited to dive in and start hunting for pumpkins. I, meanwhile, was excited to recreate a photo from my own youth. Be honest -- which one of us … Continue reading Year 3, Day 214 →

Year 3, Day 213

"Mommy, I'm thirsty!" Seconds after we open the refrigerator door: He's a wily one, this kid.

Year 3, Day 212

I came home last night to learn that Miles "had a bad day" at daycare. Before Jaclyn elaborated further, I asked Miles about it. His lips were sealed but, like a dog with its tail preemptively tucked between its legs, his guilt was unmistakeable as he diverted his eyes and eventually made his way to … Continue reading Year 3, Day 212 →

Year 3, Day 211

The other night during our usual nightly Jeopardy!/Wheel of Fortune block of TV viewing, Miles was suddenly drawn to a commercial. Miles typically shows disdain for ads, turning to us and saying, "Uh-oh...commercial!" as though there was something we could do about it (oh, to be a modern child immersed in streaming services). But this … Continue reading Year 3, Day 211 →

Year 3, Day 210

How do I know when my son means business? When the sound of his voice yelling, "I need juice, BRIAN!" comes from the kitchen.

Year 3, Day 209

I'd imagine this photo looks a lot like the last thing criminals in Gotham see before getting POWed, BAPed, and BORTed into unconsciousness. This blurry photo is the only evidence we have of the existence of the "Bat-Man." Seriously though, Miles loves his new PJs.

Miles: "Oh daddy! I'm a scary monster!" The reality:

Year 3, Day 207

Miles got a haircut today, then went out for ice cream with his buddy Duke. He actually taught Duke how to eat his first ice cream cone! And of course Miles ate his "Superman ice cream, with sprinkles" without ending up wearing a substantial portion of it. Kidding. Of course he ended up wearing it.
