After I touched down in Charlotte last night, I quickly saw a text from Jaclyn letting me know they had parked in the arrivals area. While some part of my very, VERY tired brain registered that she was likely talking about the parking deck, I was still unprepared when I was suddenly tackled at the … Continue reading Year 5, Day 95

Year 5, Day 94
Star Wars Celebration has concluded and I'm headed back home today after a weekend that...well, was frankly just too busy. But last night I finally got a decent, lengthy video chat with Miles! Which was naturally used for tomfoolery. Can't wait to see this goofball again soon!
Year 5, Day 93
While I was waiting in line for the insanely cool Mandalorian Experience at Star Wars Celebration today, Miles was busy discovering his own potential for buoyancy. https://videopress.com/v/vP2TeWwz?resizeToParent=true&cover=true&loop=true&preloadContent=metadata&useAverageColor=true I can't believe he didn't start crying when his head went underwater! It's official: he is now better at swimming than I am.
Year 5, Day 92
Today was day three of Star Wars Celebration, and while I was busy with a variety of convention-related craziness, Miles was busy with this: Suffice to say, neither of us had a whole lot of time to chat today. And while, yes, I've undoubtedly appreciated having some time away from virtually all of my responsibilities … Continue reading Year 5, Day 92
Year 5, Day 91
I've taken great lengths over the years to keep Miles from familiarizing himself with the Minions, those gratingly annoying Mike 'n' Ike-looking cinematic abominations. And while he hasn't seen any of their actual movies, he does now possess a Minion toothbrush, so he at least knows what they look like. In a desperate attempt to … Continue reading Year 5, Day 91
Year 5, Day 90
Today was the first day of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, and my day was packed to the gills with all sorts of stuff, from seeing the casts of Andor and Willow onstage, to hearing an orchestra conducted by John Freaking Williams play "The Raiders March," to attending a screening of the first two episodes of … Continue reading Year 5, Day 90
Year 5, Day 89
Just two guys in the backseat eating cereal out of a baggie on the way to the airport. I may need a break, but I'm going to miss this kid.
Year 5, Day 88
Long ago, in the "Before Times" of 2019, I purchased a ticket to attend Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. Then COVID happened, and the event got kicked out. Tomorrow, I finally fly out to California for four exhausting and fun days of convention-going. Had this event happened as scheduled back in 2020, Miles would have … Continue reading Year 5, Day 88
Year 5, Day 87
Most nights I'll check on Miles before bed and have to make some small adjustment to his blanket or pillows. Last night I found him like this: Some nights he DOES sleep like his mother.
Year 5, Day 86
In which Miles has his first encounter with a slip 'n' slide and quickly makes a decision about it. https://videopress.com/v/ESq5yatN?resizeToParent=true&cover=true&preloadContent=metadata&useAverageColor=true Not having one bit of it.
