"A long-drawn wail came down the wind, like the cry of some evil and lonely creature. It rose and fell, and ended on a high piercing note. Even as they sat and stood, as if suddenly frozen, it was answered by another cry, fainter and further off, but no less chilling to the blood. There … Continue reading Day 96

Day 95
It's only been about three months since I've had to go back to work, but I already feel like I miss so much of Miles's day. The fact that he's up before I leave for work makes things a little easier (easier in one way, at least), but on most nights I only get maybe … Continue reading Day 95
Day 94
Gods be praised! Miles fell asleep without crying tonight! Sure, he talked to the wall for a few minutes before drifting off...about what, none can say...but no tears!
Day 93
And now, an anecdote from Jaclyn:
Day 92
"He's just a little ball of cuteness." - Jaclyn This ball of cuteness would pee all over her an hour later.
Day 91
During Miles's first few weeks of existence, we had no choice but to supplement his breast milk with formula. This was largely his fault, as he was consuming so much that Jaclyn couldn't keep up with his voluminous appetite. To be fair to her, a small village would've had a hard time keeping up. As … Continue reading Day 91
Day 90
Miles was full of adorable noises today! In fact, I tried to get some video of it. Made a second attempt a few minutes later. At least I know he's got solid comedic timing. A little "Farrelly Bros" for my tastes, but quality nonetheless.
Day 89
Miles's response to toys has been pretty hit-and-miss so far, which is understandable given that he's still just trying to figure out what the hell his own hands are for (Note: he still thinks they're edible). This week, Jaclyn got Miles a new toy, and it's the first thing I can confirm that he clearly … Continue reading Day 89
Day 88
Today, the nanny let Jaclyn know that Miles burped so loudly this morning that it actually made him jump. This baby finds new ways to impress me all the time, in ways that I was unprepared for. I just hope I bear witness to these achievements as often as possible.
Day 87
Tragedy strikes again. I looked into Miles's bassinet this morning to find, much to my dismay, that maintaining hair continues to be an issue for him. For a closer look: On the one hand, I'm sad to see that he's already going bald. On the other, THIS IS THE WHOLE REASON I DON'T HAVE PETS. … Continue reading Day 87
