It was raining pretty heavily when I picked Miles up from daycare today, so I tossed him in the car then climbed in to take off his coat and get his belt buckled. I almost never do this from inside the car, and getting his coat off quickly turned into an impromptu tickling session.

Year 2, Day 10
Separated (from the Phantom Zone) at birth?
Year 2, Day 9
Today was rough, and not just because I'm still trying desperately to shake this cold. No, this was one of those (thankfully) rare days where I only get to spend about ten minutes with Miles, most of which is in the car on the way to daycare. Jaclyn offered (and, honestly, probably really wanted) to … Continue reading Year 2, Day 9
Year 2, Day 8
You know what's worse than taking care of a sick baby? Taking care of a sick baby while you, yourself, are also sick. This is the situation Jaclyn and I have found ourselves in for the last week, and while Miles seems to be almost back to normal now, we've only gotten perpetually sicker. Even when … Continue reading Year 2, Day 8
Year 2, Day 7
Dreaming of a life on the other side of the gate...
Year 2, Day 6
Sunday morning music selection. I think Miles just liked the picture.
Year 2, Day 5: Baby’s First Birthday (Party)!
Friends and family descended upon Charlotte today to pledge fealty to young Miles, who just celebrated his first birthday this week. Our friends George, Sam, and Audrey came into town around 11:30 last night, at which point Sam set about making Miles's birthday cake. Miles, who had already gone to bed for the night, was … Continue reading Year 2, Day 5: Baby’s First Birthday (Party)!
Year 2, Day 4
For a kid who's still recovering from illnesses, Miles was completely wired yesterday. With Jaclyn working from home and me working a half day, all we could do was keep up with Miles, growing increasingly exhausted with every passing minute. Fortunately, he wasn't too fussy for most of the day; that is, until it was … Continue reading Year 2, Day 4
Year 2, Day 3
Miles has started exhibiting a new behavior this week when I was leaving for trivia in the evenings. Typically, Miles has responded to the discovery that I'm on my way out the door by wailing at the top of his lungs. Last night he looked at me, frowned, slowly clawed his way over to me, … Continue reading Year 2, Day 3
Year 2, Day 2
Advance warning, and I do apologize for this -- this post gets moderately racist due to a particular anecdote from my childhood. When I was a kid, my dad threw the term "Jap bastard" around a lot. Not in reference to actual Japanese people, whom as near as I can tell my dad had no … Continue reading Year 2, Day 2
