On the increasingly rare occasions when Miles wakes up in the middle of the night, he’s generally good about putting himself back to sleep. And by that I mean “leaving his room and climbing into bed with us.” There are still some nights, though, when Miles will call out for one of us.
When I opened his door last night and said, “What’s going on, buddy?” Miles just hugged me and said, “I missed you.”
I hugged him and walked him back over to his bed. After he was tucked in, I said, “Now go back to sleep.” Then, wanting him to sleep well, I added, “And hey, maybe we’ll see each other in our dreams!”
Miles, sounding as pathetic and dejected as possible, replied, “No we won’t…”
