One of Miles’s favorite times of day (and mine too) is during that brief window between lying down and falling asleep. Miles often wants his back, cheek, or head rubbed while I cuddle close with him, and I’ll typically oblige until he finally drifts off (which I do sometimes too).
Tonight, once I was pretty sure he was out, I started to slowly rise from the bed, but Miles’s arm lashed out, wrapped around mine, then tugged me back to the bed next to him. “You’re not going ANYWHERE,” he stated, his head still turned away from me.
Who was I to argue? I stayed there with him, his arm still holding tight, until he was sound asleep. I’ll always enjoy these moments while I still have them.
