When preparing to leave for our morning commute, I glanced at the kitchen countertop and noticed that two items from Miles’s rock collection were sitting up there.
“Hey,” I said, pointing. “Uh, what is this?”
Jaclyn snatched them up and held them out to Miles. “Miles!” she said. “What did I tell you about these rocks?!”
“Don’t eat the rocks,” Miles said matter-of-factly, nodding his head in that “Yeah mom, I get it” sort of way he’ll have mastered by the time he’s a teenager.
“What?” Jaclyn said. “No! Don’t put the rocks on the counter!”
