Year 3, Day 297

As I pulled up to daycare this afternoon, the alarm on one of the other cars in the parking lot suddenly started honking. I parked and got out of my own car, the other vehicle still blinking and beeping all the while. After about thirty seconds, I started wondering if anyone was going to shut it off.

As the alarm continued, I knocked on the door. The head of the daycare answered, leaning her head out the door and glancing towards the car. “Yep,” she said, retreating back inside and grabbing her keys. As she pressed a button and silenced the alarm, she looked at me and shook her head.

“Yeah, that was Miles,” she grumbled. “He got my keys.”

Miles was already shuffling through the door, and I looked down at him as he brushed past me. “Heh, heh,” he quietly snickered, with an unmistakeable look in his eye that let me know his only objective was mischief.
