He may be young, but Miles is already developing an ear for orchestral music. Sure, his love of Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld” stems largely from its use as backing music for a couple Disney songs, but what’s more heartwarming (for me anyway) is that he’s already able to distinguish John Williams scores.
Sure, he figured out what the main titles from Star Wars sounded like pretty quickly, but he can also tell the difference in general terms between music from a Star Wars movie and the score to, say, Superman the Movie (I know adults who would have a hard time with this).
The main title music from Superman has, incidentally, become one of the most regularly requested songs in the house.
