This morning as we attempted to coax Miles out the door, I told him I had a big surprise for him (this always works). Not just lip service, Miles actually did reach a new milestone in his life today, one that he realized when I opened the door to the backseat of the car.
“A new car seat!” Miles exclaimed.
Well, not exactly. It was the same car seat he’s been riding in his whole life, but now it’s flipped around!
“Are you ready to go for a ride?” I asked.
“Yeah!” he exclaimed, as giddy as I’ve ever seen him at 8:00 in the morning.
I took my seat up front and turned to look at him. “And now you can see daddy!”
“I see daddy!” he laughed.
I queued up some music for us and started the car as Miles giggled. Almost as soon as we started rolling down the street, Miles said one of the most adorable things I’ve ever heard come out of his mouth.
“I’m flyin’!”
“If you think this is good, wait until we get on the interstate,” I said.
He was mesmerized the whole way to daycare.
