An executive decision was made last night in the face of teething-related screaming — Miles slept in bed with us for the first time. It took a lot of time and positivity to help bring Miles back from the brink of despair over his oral discomfort, but gradually he calmed down.
And then, of course, he started acting like a total goofball, climbing over his mother and thrusting his legs into my abdomen, laughing all the while. Even though this kept us awake longer than we would’ve liked, I think we were all just relieved that the crying had passed. After we told Miles to calm down a few times, he finally complied and drifted off to sleep with us.
I definitely don’t want to make a habit out of this, but once in a while it’s nice for all of us. It’s always nice sharing the things you love with the people you love, and there’s nothing I love more than sleeping.*
