Year 2, Day 90
The best Sunday mornings are ones where I'm able to relax a bit while Miles crawls around, exploring the house and finding toys to play with. There are points during these mornings, however, where a parent suddenly realizes things are too quiet. This typically happens in the midst of a protracted period of silence and … Continue reading Year 2, Day 90
Year 2, Day 89
It's no secret that Miles loves animals, so it was a real treat to take him on a short trip to Rockwell today to visit Tiger World, an endangered wildlife sanctuary that's home to more than its name implies. Miles got to see bears, lions, gibbons, and yes, tigers. He was most interested in the … Continue reading Year 2, Day 89
Year 2, Day 88

Year 2, Day 87
Miles discovers House of Pain.
Year 2, Day 86
Tonight, Miles showcased his current knowledge of animal sounds for me, and I was blown away. The animals he can now mimic on cue include: Dogs (of course) Cows Ducks Lions Bears (sort of the same as lions, TBH)
Year 2, Day 85
It's ceaselessly entertaining observing Miles interacting with things that, for whatever reason, he's become transfixed by. Sure, he loves birds, balls, balloons, and cottage cheese (?? weirdo...), but one of his more unexpected and, frankly, bizarre interests is in the human belly button. The very first time he saw my belly button, it was like … Continue reading Year 2, Day 85
Year 2, Day 84
Today when I entered the room at Miles's daycare, I gave him my usual smile and said, "Hi, Miles!" UNusually, his response was to start barking like a dog. This kid is so weird and I hope he never stops being weird.
Year 2, Day 83
Today we took Miles to his second baseball game ever, and fortunately we were seated under a canopy and none of us boiled alive in the sun. Miles's babysitter Lisa came too, for reasons that Jaclyn assures me were not ulterior.
Year 2, Day 82
