A new, oft-repeated phrase has entered Miles’s repertoire. We’ve only started hearing it in the last couple days, but we’ve heard it a lot.
For instance, today, as Miles and I were getting ready for a walk to the park, I was trying to maneuver his trike out of the house and onto the porch. He dashed over to help, but I rebuffed him and said I needed him to step back so I could take care of it. Aggrieved, he exclaimed, “Hey! What’s the big idea??”
If there’s one thing a two-year-old child amasses a bounty of on any given day, it’s grievances. Miles is no exception.
“Miles, time for your bath!”
“Hey! What’s the big idea??”
“Miles! Brush your teeth!”
“Hey! What’s the big idea??”
I think it’s safe to say that my child has entered the “wiseguy” stage of development.
