Year 3, Day 143

When Miles awoke this morning, he immediately issued a decree. “Mommy! I wanna go to the ice cream shop!”

We found his demand to be fair, if slightly unreasonable at 7:00 am, and so we promised that, at the end of the day, we would all go get ice cream.

Miles was delighted. So delighted, in fact, that he continued talking about ice cream all the way to daycare. As we passed some large murals in midtown, Miles made an observation.

“I see ice cream!” he said, pointing at a large abstract painting that, sure, could be left open to interpretation on the part of the observer.

I shook my head. “Miles, you’re going to see ice cream all day aren’t you?” I asked.

“Yeah!” he declared before adding, “IN MY FACE!”

Miles’s eagerness to acquire ice cream continued unabated into the evening.

By the time we finally went to Golden Cow Creamery for our after-dinner treat, I think we were ALL seeing visions of ice cream.
