One of my favorite night-time activities, which I’m trying to turn into a ritual, is taking Miles out back just before bedtime to look for animals. Having seen a couple animals in the yard (a rabbit, an opossum, a raccoon, an owl) and knowing Miles is a big fan of all of them, I figured we should take advantage of the best time of the day to spot them.
While we haven’t had a whole lot of lock so far (despite Miles always bringing his binoculars along), that hasn’t stopped him from ending each excursion with well-wishes for each of the backyard-dwelling creatures.
“Night night, owl!” he’ll call. “Night night, possum! Night night, bunny!”
