Year 2, Day 212

Miles was distracted as I left for trivia tonight and he wandered away from me as I stepped out the door. As I turned my car around in the street, something caught my eye and I looked back to the front door. Miles was standing there, banging on the glass and grinning from ear to ear. I laughed and waved to him, and he waved back. I could see him mouth, “Bye-bye!” to me as he moved his arms excitedly. I kept waving as I pulled away, and only took my eyes off him to turn my attention to the road. I glanced back over my shoulder just as the door was shrinking away from my sight, and Miles was still there, face pressed to the glass, watching the car move down the street.

I don’t get to see Miles many evenings during the week, and moments like this one are what keep me going.
