Year 2, Day 161

Ever since Miles has started feeding himself, he’s always wanted to give back for all the time Jaclyn and I have spent feeding him. This charity is demonstrated at some point nearly every meal, as Miles, after carefully considering the piece of food between his fingers, will hold it up to me. At first, I thought he just wanted me to see what he was eating or how cool it is that he’s got functioning fingers, but I soon realized that he wanted me to eat the outstretched food. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this food may be partially chewed or have previously fallen in Miles’s lap. But what’s a dad to do? It’s not like I want to reject every friendly gesture Miles presents to me, regardless of how appalling it is.
