In his quest for independence, Miles has discovered an all-consuming desire to grasp his own eating utensils, whether or not he can actually use them productively. He was particularly cranky at bedtime tonight, clearly hungry but unwilling to accept any food that he wasn’t scooping from a bowl himself. As I’ve grown accustomed to doing, provided Miles with a “dummy spoon” — that is, one he can hold onto and maybe place in his bowl periodically while I use another spoon to actually feed him. While I was able to sate his appetite using this method, I was unable to convince him to hand over the spoon afterwards…
