Day 43

One of the hardest things about being a parent is reminding yourself not to fall asleep when the baby is sleeping on your shoulder. Now, obviously it’s unsafe to drift off without securing the baby in his crib or bassinet, but the feeling of having the little guy lying on your chest, feeling his tiny body rise and fall with each breath, hearing the occasional coo or whimper…it’s more effective than any aesthetic sleep aid I’ve ever known. I’m not sure there’s a more comfortable and peaceful occasion in existence.
