Just to reiterate, Miles likes the Ninja Turtles. Pictured here with his "sword" and "staff."

Year 5, Day 104
Miles and I visited Video Game World tonight to peruse their current stock of used games, and Miles naturally became fixated on two not-so-great games from my childhood. And while I relented and picked up a copy of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the NES, I drew a hard line in the … Continue reading Year 5, Day 104
Year 5, Day 103
Maybe this is normal for the age Miles is at, but he's had a lot (like, A LOT) of questions about death lately. "What happens when we die?" "Are you going to die?" "Am I going to die?" All the usual first questions one might ask when coming to terms with mortality for the first … Continue reading Year 5, Day 103
Year 5, Day 102
"Daddy, I'm a leg man." - Miles, in response to my question about why he has to do this every time I'm trying to lift him into the car. To clarify, he does this AS I'm putting him in the seat, which of course doesn't make things needlessly difficult at all.
Year 5, Day 101
Brain freeze! (Also, the sticker chart continues working like a charm.)
Year 5, Day 100

Year 5, Day 99
Saturday Morning Science, "Fun With Bubbles" edition. If that isn't the diabolical spark of a budding mad scientist, I don't know what is.
Year 5, Day 98
"I'm dressing in Daddy's shirt!" - Miles, attempting to steal my work shirt and take my place at my job today (SPOILERS: If it were at all plausible I would TOTALLY let him).
Year 5, Day 97
Those "It's Thursday night and we're getting Latin-inspired food for dinner" vibes.
Year 5, Day 96
It's been a few weeks since I removed the knob cover from Miles's door, granting him the ability to open and close it as he pleases. He's largely treated this development responsibly, staying in his room when told and not coming into our bedroom in the middle of every night. In fact, his night-time incursions … Continue reading Year 5, Day 96
